Father McGivney’s Legacy in Poland, Ukraine
0:00
On April 13, Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly met with Knights in Radom, Poland, to thank them for their continued efforts on behalf of Ukrainian refugees. Prior to the visit, the Knights assembled 5,000 Easter care packages — filled with supplies to help Ukrainian families celebrate Easter — and opened a parish-based Mercy Center, helping to integrate Ukrainian refugees in the community and provide material aid. The following day, the supreme knight visited a retreat center outside of Częstochowa, Poland, that now serves as an orphanage for approximately 100 Ukrainian children displaced by the war. After visiting the center, which is operated by Caritas of Częstochowa and supported by the Order’s Ukraine Solidarity Fund, the supreme knight visited St. Wojciech Parish in Częstochowa, where he greeted refugees at the parish’s Knights of Columbus Mercy Center and met with members of the Poland State Council. As Easter approaches amid war and in Ukraine, the words of Venerable Fulton Sheen give perspective: “Evil has its hour, but God has his day.” The Knights of Columbus is continuing to bring hope for Ukrainian refugees through the Order’s Ukraine Solidarity Fund, which is providing temporary shelter, food, medical supplies, clothing and religious supplies for those in need. 100% of your gift to the fund will go directly to these displaced people.
