Brother Knights from Council 7432 in Calgary, Alberta, felt inspired to extend the reach of their local Coats for Kids program and help children in Ukraine who need a winter jacket. Following successful parish fundraisers, the Alberta Knights, with the help of the Supreme Council, sent the funds to Polish Knights, who purchased and delivered coats to Knights in Ukraine. Ukrainian Knights then distributed them to the children of fallen soldiers in Lviv. Danylo and Alexander Fedoryka — the founders of the folk band Scythian — grew up in a household rooted in Ukrainian traditions and in Catholic faith. After nearly 20 years as a band, they have not forgotten the lesson their mother imparted to them: that music is an avenue to evangelize and show God’s love. The brothers, who are members of John Carrell Jenkins Council 7771 in Front Royal, Va., have been living out that vocation by performing traditional Ukrainian songs with their band to raise funds for those suffering from the invasion of Ukraine. The group asked fans to donate to the Knights of Columbus Ukraine Solidarity Fund, which is providing humanitarian aid including shelter, food, medical supplies and clothing, for refugees and displaced people.
