On the day following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, the Knights of Columbus established the Heroes Fund. Proceeds from this fund were paid to the families of emergency response personnel -- police, fire and medical -- who lost their lives in the line of duty and service to others. Pennsylvania Knights Build Observatory at VA Hospital

Knights in the Pittsburgh area knew that veterans living at VA hospitals often struggle to find activities to do in the evenings once their daily programming has finished. After surveying residents and staff about how they could help, the Knights offered to fundraise and build an observatory at the hospital. The newly built facility is the first of its kind nationwide and has provided a tremendous outlet for veterans, allowing them to explore the heavens. French Knights Honor Fallen of Belleau Wood

In June 1918, the Imperial German Army was 35 miles outside Paris and advancing quickly with aims to capture the city and end World War I. At this critical point, U.S. Infantry and Marine regiments arrived at Belleau Wood to fight alongside the French. Grossly outnumbered, the Allies managed to defeat the Germans in one of the bloodiest and most heroic battles of the war. On Nov. 21, 2021, a group of Knights of Columbus in France traveled to Bois Belleau to pay their respects at a monument dedicated to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
