The Knights of Columbus partnered with the Archdiocese for Military Services, USA, to sponsor 200 warrior pilgrims, their caretakers, and some family members, to Warriors to Lourdes pilgrimage, which is part of the 59th International Military Pilgrimage to Lourdes. Jim Jenifer, a 94-year-old man, has been a Knight of Columbus for more than 50 years. His great-grandfather, Alfred Jenifer, was a former slave who fought for the Union Army in the 19th United States Colored Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. In May 2021, the District of Columbia State Council honored Alfred Jenifer with a plaque on his gravestone.
