The distribution was an extension of the Knights’ Coats for Kids program that takes place across North America each year. “It was heartwarming not only to give out coats but to share with all those we encountered. The storm surge toppled the 8-foot walls of the Poor Clare Nuns’ San Damiano Monastery, trapping the sisters and their parish pastor. Knowing they would still be at the Monastery, local Knights trekked to the island that is home to the monastery and rescued the Poor Clares and their pastor, who had been trapped for four days. Brother Knights built and delivered beds on the eve of the Feast of Blessed Michael McGivney to children in the community who now have a bed to sleep on in their homes.
