In 2009, the Knights of Columbus launched a new initiative designed to keep kids warm in harsh winter climates. With many families with young children struggling in tough economic times, there was a clear need to provide warm winter coats to children in their communities. And so, the Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids program was born. Since the program's inception, the Knights of Columbus in the United States and Canada has given away 150,000 coats to children in need. More than 1,000 of local Knights of Columbus councils have participated in their communities. Knights Provide Winter Coats for Kids in Alaska

Winter comes early in Alaska, and so does the Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids program! Members of St. Benedict Council 12290 in Anchorage handed out almost 500 coats to kids in need at a back-to-school event organized by the city’s police department. Since it began in 2009, Coats for Kids has provided nearly 1 million warm winter coats to families across the United States, Canada, and around the world.
