In Solidarity with Ukraine
0:00
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24th, 2022, was a shock to the world. Through this war we are witnessing the reality of evil. But we’re also seeing something else. As tanks tore through Ukraine to kill, concerned citizens and Brother Knights arrived with relief supplies to sustain life. As refugees fled, volunteers stood at the border to provide critical care and housing. As bombs dropped from the sky, people of faith sent their prayers to the heavens. In Solidarity with Ukraine, an inspiring new film from the Knights of Columbus, see a vivid example of what it means to be a Christian disciple in the midst of war, and how the light of the Gospel continues to shine in the darkness. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine last February, more than 100 children from the cities of Myrne and Melitopol were relocated to a retreat center outside Częstochowa, Poland. With financial support from the Knights of Columbus, the local branch of the international charitable organization Caritas now operates the center as an orphanage, offering love, safety and stability to refugee children who have lost everything. Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly visited the home and spent time with the children there during Holy Week of 2022. Knights Deliver Aid to Ukraine
0:00
On March 1, a semi-truck filled with humanitarian aid collected by Knights in Poland made its way to Lviv in western Ukraine. The supplies delivered to Ukraine — including medicine, generators, sleeping bags, warm clothing and other necessities — were collected by K of C councils throughout Poland and brought to regional sites in Radom, Kraków and Tomaszów Lubelski. The items were then shipped and loaded onto a single 18-wheeler — dubbed the “Solidarity Shuttle” — in Tomaszów Lubelski and departed for Lviv Feb. 28. With the support of people around the world, Knights of Poland and Ukraine continue to expand their aid by the hour.
