Rom was born in New York City. But the values he learned as the son of Catholic immigrants in early 20th-century America have stayed with him. After serving in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II, Rom married, started a family and joined the Knights of Columbus. Today, he is a member of Our Lady of Grace Council 14765 in South Carolina, where he has lived since 2010 with his daughter, Maryann, and her husband. Rom recently shared some advice based on his experiences over the past 105 years. The Knights of Columbus is proud to present these videos with Fred Rom as part of a long tradition of service to the military.

Father Stanley Rother: Patron of the Peripheries On July 28, 1981, Father Stanley Rother was murdered at age 46 by three unknown assailants who broke into the parish rectory. Through his life of service and martyrdom, Father Stanley Rother exemplified the call to missionary discipleship.
