When Knights from San Eugenio de Mazenod Council 17299 in Miramar, Florida, realized that many families in their community could not afford to sign up their kids for soccer clubs, they decided to create a free youth soccer program. Almost 200 children participated in the first session in October 2019. The program has been such a hit that the Knights now run it year-round, teaching teamwork, supporting parents and building up their parish community. Los Caballeros del Consejo 17299 San Eugenio de Mazenod en Miramar, Florida, iniciaron su programa de fútbol gratuito para niños locales en el 2019 con porterías improvisadas y equipos donados en el campo vacío de una iglesia. El programa ha sido tan exitoso que ahora funciona durante todo el año, enseñándole trabajo en equipo a los niños, apoyando a las familias y construyendo la comunidad de la parroquia. On Good Friday 2023, Knights from council 17245 in Paterson, NJ, re-enacted the Passion of Christ through a Via Crucis in the city streets. Culminating at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist ahead of Good Friday Liturgy, nearly 2000 people watched as the story of Our Lord’s suffering and death was retold on the most solemn of days.
