Volunteers and Special Guest worked to Distribute over 600 warm winter coats to the children of this Mission. In September 2022, Hurricane Ian struck the Fort Myers area with devastating winds and flooding. The storm surge toppled the 8-foot walls of the Poor Clare Nuns’ San Damiano Monastery, trapping the sisters and their parish pastor. Knowing they would still be at the Monastery, local Knights trekked to the island that is home to the monastery and rescued the Poor Clares and their pastor, who had been trapped for four days. Knights in Newtown, CT, worked alongside Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a national organization that aims to end child bedlessness by building beds for children in need. Brother Knights built and delivered beds on the eve of the Feast of Blessed Michael McGivney to children in the community who now have a bed to sleep on in their homes. In response to the devastation, the Knights of Columbus joined forces with Epic Ministries and the Vulnerable People Project to provide support to victims and reopen a Catholic school in the town of Lãhainã.
