This fall, Knights distributed coats for schoolchildren on Red Lake Reservation in Minnesota, one of the most impoverished communities in the state, and an area where winter temperatures frequently dip below zero. The donation continues the Order’s long tradition of support for Native American communities. Members of St. Benedict Council 12290 in Anchorage handed out almost 500 coats to kids in need at a back-to-school event organized by the city’s police department. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Knights provided them with financial aid and necessities like food.
