0:00
At the beginning of Holy Week, Pope Francis granted a private audience with Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly, during which they discussed the Order’s work for those affected by the war in Ukraine. Pope Francis then blessed a very special Easter basket, representative of 10,000 care packages, assembled by Knights in Poland and distributed to displaced families in Ukraine during Holy Week to help them celebrate Easter, both Latin and Eastern rites. Supreme Knight Kelly then traveled to Poland to visit with Knights serving refugees and helped load Easter care packages onto the latest “K of C Charity Convoy” of trucks bringing supplies into Ukraine. The supreme knight proceeded to visit the Order’s Mercy Center in Hrebenne, then crossed the border into Ukraine, delivering additional Easter care packages to families taking refuge at a 14th-century monastery in Rava Ruska, in the Archdiocese of Lviv, Ukraine. There, the supreme knight also met with Ukrainian Knights and ceremonially installedUkraine State Deputy Youriy Maletskiy. Songs of Hope for Ukraine
0:00
Danylo and Alexander Fedoryka — the founders of the folk band Scythian — grew up in a household rooted in Ukrainian traditions and in Catholic faith. After nearly 20 years as a band, they have not forgotten the lesson their mother imparted to them: that music is an avenue to evangelize and show God’s love. The brothers, who are members of John Carrell Jenkins Council 7771 in Front Royal, Va., have been living out that vocation by performing traditional Ukrainian songs with their band to raise funds for those suffering from the invasion of Ukraine. The group asked fans to donate to the Knights of Columbus Ukraine Solidarity Fund, which is providing humanitarian aid including shelter, food, medical supplies and clothing, for refugees and displaced people. Until March 1, 2023, 50% of the proceeds from all sales of Scythian music on this platform (https://official-scythian-merch-store.myshopify.com) will go to the Order’s Ukraine Solidarity Fund in support of ongoing relief efforts. 0:00
Brother Knights from Council 7432 in Calgary, Alberta, felt inspired to extend the reach of their local Coats for Kids program and help children in Ukraine who need a winter jacket. Following successful parish fundraisers, the Alberta Knights, with the help of the Supreme Council, sent the funds to Polish Knights, who purchased and delivered coats to Knights in Ukraine. Ukrainian Knights then distributed them to the children of fallen soldiers in Lviv.
