In response to Pope Francis’ call for a Day of Prayer for Peace in Ukraine, the Knights of Columbus held a Holy Hour at St. Mary’s Parish in New Haven, Conn. — the birthplace of the Order — on Jan. 26. The Holy Hour included eucharistic adoration and praying of the rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Prayer of St. Francis, in addition to Ukrainian hymns and prayers and remarks from Bishop Paul Chomnycky of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Stamford. Brother Knights from Council 7432 in Calgary, Alberta, felt inspired to extend the reach of their local Coats for Kids program and help children in Ukraine who need a winter jacket. Following successful parish fundraisers, the Alberta Knights, with the help of the Supreme Council, sent the funds to Polish Knights, who purchased and delivered coats to Knights in Ukraine. Ukrainian Knights then distributed them to the children of fallen soldiers in Lviv.
