In 2011, SGT Adam Farabaugh was deployed to Afghanistan. While on duty, he and his unit were ambushed, resulting in injuries to his back and heart from exploded shrapnel. In addition to the physical injuries he sustained, he also has PTSD. SGT Farabaugh’s wife sought to help him find healing and a new beginning and applied to the Warriors to Lourdes Pilgrimage. Their entry was accepted, and they journeyed to France, rekindling their faith and the decision to have their son baptized and raised in the Church. Jim Jenifer, a 94-year-old man, has been a Knight of Columbus for more than 50 years. His great-grandfather, Alfred Jenifer, was a former slave who fought for the Union Army in the 19th United States Colored Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. In May 2021, the District of Columbia State Council honored Alfred Jenifer with a plaque on his gravestone.
