Jim Wahlberg’s youth was filled with brokenness. In his formative years, he learned how to steal cars, break and enter, became homeless by age 12, and succumbed to addiction. After becoming a ward of the state and serving multiple prison terms, a chance meeting with Mother Teresa while incarcerated changed the trajectory of his life, beginning his path back to Christ. Following a mustard gas attack, Monsignor returned to the Diocese of Brooklyn and received permission to begin a ministry to African American Catholics.
