On Sept. 17, 2021, 98-year old Louis Graziano, a World War II veteran and Knight, received the French Legion of Honor. During the war, Graziano landed on D-Day in the third wave on Omaha Beach and was later in the Battle of the Bulge. He is the last known living witness to the German surrender, which ended hostilities in Europe. As a Knight, he has made a significant impact on the growth of the Order in Thomson, Ga. Father Gerald Mendoza is a priest of the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan in Northern Alberta and a Knights of Columbus. The wildfires raging across Canada have heavily affected the communities he serves in an isolated part of the country. Monsignor Quinn: Champion of the Downtrodden

Monsignor Bernard J. Quinn, an associate member of the Knights of Columbus, served as a military chaplain in France during the First World War. Following a mustard gas attack, Monsignor returned to the Diocese of Brooklyn and received permission to begin a ministry to African American Catholics. Despite attacks against himself and his work by the Ku Klux Klan, Monsignor Quinn’s work would culminate in creating one of the largest childcare services in the State of New York.
