Running the Extra Mile for Hungry Kids – Ron Cormier

Ron Cormier runs a half marathon every Sunday. He can do it in any kind of weather, given the climate in New Brunswick, Canada. What Ron could not do, was sit by when his Knights Council was approached by a local school and asked to help provide meals for impoverished children without lunches. As he was about to run his first full marathon in New York, Ron came up with the idea for Lunchbox Grandpa. With help from his Brother Knights, he used his run to help fundraise for meals at the school for an entire year.

His recovery was fraught with intense challenges, including the urge to commit suicide. Jose overcame his addiction and has now been sober for 29 years. He has since become a brother Knight and a regional growth director for the Knights of Columbus, and he believes his work to be a vocation, one of evangelization.
