Winter comes early in Alaska, and so does the Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids program! Members of St. Benedict Council 12290 in Anchorage handed out almost 500 coats to kids in need at a back-to-school event organized by the city’s police department. Since it began in 2009, Coats for Kids has provided nearly 1 million warm winter coats to families across the United States, Canada, and around the world. Last year while in Rome, Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly visited wecare. Founded by young people in Italy, it is an organization that serves the poor. With the support of the Knights of Columbus, wecare opened a new resource center in Rome to provide the homeless of the city with a place they can congregate and find community.
