Ukrainian Knight Oleg Vorobyev Remembered for Faith and Love
0:00
When Oleg Vorobyev, a member of The Blessed Hryhorij Lakota Council 17651 in Lviv, first joined the Anti-Terrorist Operation in the Donbas region of Ukraine in 2015, he was moved by the plight of his fellow soldiers, many of them ordinary men who suffered while separated from their families. Returning home, he and his wife, Olga, founded “Happy Together,” an organization to provide support for family relationships and marriages of men in the ATO. When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Oleg was called again to fight for his country. He was killed in battle May 30 near the city of Popasna in eastern Ukraine. Family and friends remember Oleg as a man of love, faith and patriotism. A Year of Solidarity
0:00
The Russian invasion of Ukraine one year ago spurred one of the largest relief efforts in Knights of Columbus history. Since February 2022, Knights around the world have prayed for peace and raised more than $20 million for the Order’s Ukraine Solidarity Fund. In collaboration with Knights in Ukraine and Poland, the local Greek- and Latin-rite Catholic Churches, and partnering organizations, the Order has welcomed refugees, brought supplies and care packages to war-torn areas, cared for orphans and those with disabilities, fought human trafficking, and helped remove land mines. As the war enters its second year, the Knights of Columbus remains committed to standing with the people of Ukraine. Learn more at kofc.org/ukraine. A Knight’s Mission to Ukraine
0:00
When the invasion of Ukraine began Feb. 24, Father Jason Charron resolved to act — specifically to help bring refugees and orphans out of danger. Father Charron, a married Ukrainian Catholic priest and a Knight in Pennsylvania, was in Ukraine two days later, leading 22 children out of the country to safety in Lithuania. He later returned to Ukraine in June, bringing with him 8,000 pounds of medical supplies. “My calling as a husband, a father, a priest and a Knight all revolve around that central mission of defending the holy things of God,” he said. “As Knights, we follow the example of Father Michael McGivney to defend the widow and the orphan.”

Knights Assemble 10,000 Easter Packages for Ukraine
0:00
At the beginning of Holy Week, Pope Francis granted a private audience with Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly, during which they discussed the Order’s work for those affected by the war in Ukraine. Pope Francis then blessed a very special Easter basket, representing 10,000 care packages assembled by Knights in Poland and distributed to displaced families in Ukraine — in cities such as Kyiv, Bucha, Irpin, Odessa and Husarivka — during Holy Week to help them celebrate Easter, both Greek and Latin rites. Each package contained items including meat, flour, pasta, chocolate and an Easter candle.
